Importance of Mindset in Parents and Kids Life
People often say that your success in life depends on your mindset and outlook. If you have a positive mindset and a growth mindset then you will be successful in life.
Mindset:
Your mindset is a set of beliefs that influence how you experience the world and yourself. It has an impact on how you think, feels, and act in any given situation.
Types of mindset:
There are two types of mindsets
1. Growth mindset
2. Fixed mindset
1. Growth Mindset:
Parents with a growth mindset believe that their talents and abilities can be developed over time with hard work and dedication and even they believe that everyone can get smarter or more talented if they work at it.
Examples of growth mindset:
I have the ability to learn any skill I desire.
The more you challenge yourself, the more intelligent you become.
2. Fixed mindset:
Parents with a fixed mindset, believe that their abilities are fixed traits and therefore can't be changed. They may also believe that your talent and intelligence alone leads to success, and effort is not required.
Examples of Fixed mindset:
You don't have the ability if you have to work hard.
I'm not going to fail if I don't try.
2. Consider the failure to be a learning opportunity:
We all face setbacks and failure in life, but how we respond to a failure determines the level of success we will achieve.
3. Trust yourself
When you believe in yourself, even when others doubt you, you gain confidence. Believing in yourself can propel you to extraordinary heights.
4. Give up on seeking approval:
When you put approval ahead of learning, you limit your own potential for growth.
5. Mistakes are valuable.
Nobody ever learned anything worthwhile without making mistakes. Mistakes are a necessary part of the learning process. Encourage children to view their errors as one of many steps on the path to mastery. Reflecting on both successes and failures can be helpful for children learning to understand the nature of ‘doing': we do and we fail, and both are fine because they got us to where we are now.
Advantages of having a growth mindset:
- You are more realistic in focusing on doing the hard work when you have a Growth Mindset. This means that if you have a Growth Mindset you will be more successful.
- You will be much more adaptable to changing situations if you have a Growth Mindset.
- A Growth Mindset allows you to be more creative in problem-solving.
- If you have a Growth Mindset, you will be much more open to yourself and others.
Conclusion:
The growth mindset is about believing that we can learn and grow and we can increase our abilities. We all have a growth mindset; we just need to work on developing it.
